We had a phishing attack at work and one person fell for it. The attacker tricked him into buying Apple gift cards and sent him pictures of them.
Now my question is: what are Apple gift cards for? As far as I know, they can only be redeemed at Apple, and isn't that too risky? How do these people get money from them?
Oh dear, that's a nasty situation! It's amazing how convincing those scams can be. Our IT department hammered home the importance of verifying requests through official channels after Granny nearly fell for a similar gift card scam. Educating everyone on phishing tactics is crucial. Perhaps consider implementing multi-factor authentication for added security? It will prevent similar scams from happening.
